For service and repair of the wiper motor linkage, first disconnect the battery for safety because of the auto-park feature of the windshield wiper system. Then take off the two nut covers from the windshield wiper pivot arms, then the two nuts and the pivot arms; reinstall tightening the nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Continue and remove the left and right cowl panel grille extension panels and care should be taken to reuse the nine pin-type retainers when removing the cowl panel grille. Next, remove the 7 bolts that hold the strut tower support brace (20 Nm/15 lb-ft during reinstallation). If the degas bottle has to be moved, be careful to move the lower hose in front of the brake booster after removing the two bolts; it should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Unplug the connector from the windshield wiper motor, and remove the 4 bolts from the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (bolt torque is 12 Nm (9 lb-ft)). Lastly, reverse the removal procedure in order to complete the installation.
