In order to fix the turn signal switch, one needs to disconnect the battery ground, the tilt wheel handle and steering column shroud, and then disassemble and unscrew the multifunction switch. Install the new switch again, however, battery reconnection can create temporary drive problems. Undo the steps to uninstall.
