Removal of the 60 percent backrest, release of the lower J-strip and access to the armrest bolts are required to repair the rear seat armrest. Take the bolts and support plate off, and position the armrest. Disassemble the armrest and install retainers that have been broken and reassemble the process.

How to Address Armrest Issues in the Front Seat of a Lincoln Town Car?

In order to service the front seat armrest, screws and pivot screw covers are removed followed by the armrest. Push the left latch and reset the latches then lift the lid. To install, reposition the latch mechanism, open the lid and make sure it closes. Install armrest and screws again.
