Q: How to service and repair the Water Pump on Lincoln Aviator?
A:
A draining of coolant must be completed as the first step when servicing or fixing the coolant pump. Begin by taking out the cooling fan followed by the upper Fan Shroud. Proceed by loosing the four coolant pump pulley bolts followed by removing the accessory Drive Belt. Secure the four bolts which anchor the coolant pump pulley until they reach 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) torque when reinstalling the part. Follow the procedure with removing the four coolant pump bolts while installing them with torque to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). The installation of the coolant pump housing requires strict prohibition against any rotation because this motion will hurt the O-ring seal resulting in coolant leaks. After installing a new O-ring seal onto the pump you should lubricate it with clean engine coolant before you return the pump to its position. Reinstall the pump after completing the removal steps and execute the cooling system fill-up and bleeding process.
