Lincoln Aviator Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the thermostat on Lincoln Aviator?
A: A vehicle on hoists in NEUTRAL position requires a draining of the cooling system before beginning any thermostat service or repair work. You should remove the bolts which require tightening to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) before placing back the oil filter drip shield. You must uninstall the coolant inlet connector bolts that require a torque setting of 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) while installation occurs. Before unlinking the coolant inlet connector it is fundamental to inspect and clean the O-ring seal followed by a replacement with a fresh one. Reinstallation of the thermostat follows the opposite order of removal steps while you should complete the cooling system filling and bleeding procedure.
