Lincoln Continental Coolant Reservoir or coolant recovery tank is an important component as it collects excess coolant to eliminate dripping and keeps the air out of the system. There are two main types of coolant reservoirs used in Continental vehicles: that they are either pressurized or non-pressurized. The pressurized reservoir has a metal cap on which the pressure rating is indicated while the non pressurized reservoir has a plastic cap. It is advised to conduct a routine examination to look for cracks, leakage and sick like symptoms due to age or due to contaminated coolant Hence efficiency of coolant reservoir will be properly checked.

Lincoln Continental Coolant Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on Lincoln Continental?
    A:
A repair or service procedure for the coolant reservoir begins with draining all engine cooling system fluid until the engine coolant leaves the degas bottle. The first step requires disconnecting the radiator overflow hose that connects to the degas bottle. Detach the two screws from the power steering oil reservoir then relocate it outside of the work area. The degas bottle receives its engine coolant level sensor through hose detachment before hose removal. First remove the retaining hardware from the degas bottle then pull out the bottle from the vehicle. Installation of the new degas bottle must follow the steps in the opposite order which were used in the removal process.
