Service of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor begins with disconnecting the battery ground cable. The MAF sensor works as one calibrated unit where separate repair of its hot wire sensing element and instrument housing is not possible resulting in sensor failure whenever the sensing element gets damaged within the housing. Service of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor starts with disconnecting the engine control sensor wiring from the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor followed by removing the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet tube. First remove the Engine Air Cleaner (ACL) together with the engine air cleaner cover before disconnecting the MAF sensor electrical connector. The last step involves removing the nuts retaining the MAF sensor to the inner cover. Execute the reverse process for reinstallation while checking that the MAF sensor cover performs correctly to secure the sensor from damage.
