  A: The first step to repair the accelerator pedal includes removing its associated accelerator cable. When servicing the 3.0L model disconnect the cable from the throttle body lever and the accelerator cable bracket using a trim tool yet the 3.9L model includes the bracket as part of the manifold. Secure the lock tab while rotating the fitting counter-clockwise by 90 degrees before pulling the cable upward from the bracket.
