How to service and repair the tailgate latch and Trunk Lid Latch on Lincoln Mark LT?

Start servicing and repairing the tailgate latch by opening the tailgate and providing support to it. The tailgate access panel requires the removal of eight screws before installation when you should tighten all screws to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Start by opening the clip so you can remove the tailgate latch actuating rod from the tailgate remote control and take off the actuating rod locator which is attached to the tailgate. Follow installation of the tailgate latch bolt by tightening it to 18 lb-ft (25 Nm). You must also bolt and cable the tailgate latch together while tightening them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) strength during assembly. The tailgate latch extraction process ends here but when replacing it follow the reverse order of steps while applying lubrication to the tailgate latch.
