Lincoln Mark LT Vapor Canister Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Vapor Canister on Lincoln Mark LT?
A: Service of the evaporative emission control canister starts with placing the vehicle into NEUTRAL position and hoisting it up before disconnecting the battery ground cable to avoid potential fuel vapor ignition caused by electrical sparks. The EVAP canister assembly requires accessing through removing the spare tire since it is positioned above the tire compartment. Separate the quick-connect coupling of the fuel vapor tube from the fuel vapor hose. The first step involves removing the two bolts which secure the EVAP canister assembly front brackets while torquing them to 13 Nm (10 lb-ft) when reinstalling. During installation tighten the EVAP canister assembly bracket bolts first using 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) and then follow with 13 Nm (10 lb-ft) when installing the inner bolts. You should lower the EVAP canister assembly just enough to disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector and take out its retaining pushpin. First disconnect the EVAP filter-to-EVAP canister hose and then remove the EVAP canister assembly together with the EVAP canister heat shield. The service completion requires performing the removal steps in reverse order.
