The service procedure for exterior door handles on Intelligence Access (IA) vehicles involves removing the door trim panel while setting aside the watershield. Cut power to the exterior driver door electrical connector in addition to the window regulator motor electrical connector. For all doors the service requires removing the door plug at its rear opening then loosening the exterior door handle bezel screw before removing the bezel. Pull the exterior door handle rearwards to detach it before removing the handle from its position. The installation of a new handle requires following the opposite steps used for removal. Before working inside the vehicle doors disconnect the window regulator motor connector to avoid accidents and potential serious injuries from automatic window activation.
