Lincoln MKX A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: Is the Installation of a New A/C Accumulator Necessary When Servicing the System on Lincoln MKX?
A: It is essential to replace the A/C accumulator desiccant bag only when you observe physical signs of contamination following a failed A/C compressor together with desiccant bag damage or when moisture enters due to prolonged exposure to atmospheric pressure during a complete refrigerant loss. The system repair process should not require new desiccant bag replacement since positive refrigerant pressure exists during this period. Start by taking out the A/C Condenser core while following with the removal of the A/C accumulator plug then secure it with a torque of 3 Nm (27 lb-in) after reinstalling. Before removal of the A/C accumulator desiccant bag employ a suitable tool for grasping it. The completion of installation requires reversing the removal process while lubricating the O-ring seal on the new A/C accumulator plug with clean PAG oil.
