The process to repair or service the automatic transmission shifter requires center console detachment as the first step. You must disconnect the end of the automatic transmission shift lever cable from the automatic transmission shift lever to free the tab on the cable so you can uninstall it from the housing. If you want to remove the automatic transmission shift lever then start by disconnecting the electrical connector followed by removing four nuts.
