How to Service the Rear Door Latch Assembly on Lincoln MKZ?

The servicing of the rear door latch requires you to start by removing exterior rear door handle followed by rear door window regulator motor and rear door window glass. Start by removing the three rear door latch bolts before securing them at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque upon reinstalling them. The exterior rear door handle reinforcement screw needs loosening to become movable before the rear door latch can be extracted by sliding it together with the exterior rear door handle reinforcement towards the front of the vehicle. The removal process includes disconnection of exterior rear door handle actuating rod if needed by removing the rear door latch bracket together with its three screws. The installation process should end with a rear door latch lubrication step following reverse reassembly procedures.
