Performing a leak test should be the first step when servicing the evaporator core unless its removal from the vehicle is necessary. A new receiver/drier cartridge needs to be installed only when physical signs of contamination arise due to an A/C compressor failure or damage to the existing cartridge. Start by taking out the heater core along with evaporator core housing followed by unscrewing the wire harness from the housing. The evaporator core cover needs twenty-five screws removed which will separate the housing into its two component parts. You must pull out the dash panel seal followed by removing the evaporator core. Follow the reverse order of removal to install the new core by applying the right amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system.
