The service of the front seat backrest cover without fold flat begins with removing the front seat backrest. Start service on the front seat backrest by removing the two head restraint guide sleeves followed by detaching the side
Air Bag bolt cover. Secure a mental note of where the side air bag module locator hook should rest within the side air bag module bracket of the seat back frame before reassembly. Replace the bolt after lifting the side air bag module from the seat backrest and secure the bolt to a torques of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Eradicate the electrical connector locking clip from the side air bag module and free its tab for connector disconnection to extract the side air bag module. Separate first the two pin-type retainers and detach the trim cover flaps from the recliners with patience to prevent tearing the backrest trim cover from the backrest foam pad during removal. Lower the backrest trim cover sections to gain access to the hook-and-loop strips by first removing the lower J-clips from inside and outside. Cut away all rows of hog rings from the backrest trim cover as you invert it before removing the rear upper hog rings and backrest trim cover. Proper alignment of the foam pad with the climate-controlled seat backrest manifold should be maintained during backrest reinstallation. Replacement of the seat side air bag module becomes necessary when either the cover or its separation occurs or when the air bag material becomes visible because no repair work can be carried out. The technician must check the seat side air bag module and its mounting surfaces for noticeable damage along with any present foreign material during installation. Replacement of compromised parts must happen before removing foreign objects. Selection of a backrest trim cover requires attention to detail since the side air bag model version affects which cover to pick. The front seat backrest must be installed through the reverse steps of removal.
