How to service the thermostat for the 3.5L engine on Lincoln MKZ?

To service the thermostat of 3.5L engine drain the cooling system, disconnect the lower radiator hose, remove the air cleaner and outlet pipe. Take out the thermostat housing cover, O-ring seal and thermostat. Wipe down the O-ring, change where necessary, lubricate with coolant and attach parts and then refill the cooling system.
