The Lincoln Navigator's Starter is as important as it provides mechanical energy needed to crank the engine from the stored electrical energy in the battery. Begin by removing the stud-mounted starter battery ground cable nut and proceeding to take out the starter motor and two bolts along with the stud bolt. Install the starter by fitting its two bolts and stud bolt in three separate steps that commence with light tightening followed by an upper bolt torque to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) then proceed to tighten the lower bolt and stud bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The starter battery ground cable needs attachment to the stud where a nut should secure it with 20 Nm tension (15 lb-ft). Fasten and tighten the solenoid B terminal electrical connection by using a nut to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
