How to Ensure Proper Functioning of the Dipstick and Its Tube in a Lincoln Town Car?

Starting the process of servicing the dip stick components you should place the vehicle into NEUTRAL position on a hoist. Start the procedure by taking out the LH exhaust manifold. Before proceeding with the repair begin by taking out both components of the oil level indicator along with the bolt which fixes the oil level indicator tube. Always install the bolt by tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). A clean engine oil should be used to lubricate both the O-ring seal and the engine block mating surface where the oil level indicator tube connects to avoid leakage. Keep the O-ring seal intact throughout installation while watching for indicator tube rolling up; discard the old O-ring and use a new one that requires lubrication before following removal steps for installation.
