Lincoln Zephyr Transmission Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Transmission Pan, Gasket, and Filter on Lincoln Zephyr?
    A:
The service and repair procedure for fluid pan along with gasket and filter begins by hoisting the vehicle into neutral position. With a 7-piece bolt removal of the splash shield you can drain the transmission fluid completely through the drain plug before reinstalling it securely at 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Using a suitable tool dismantle the transaxle fluid pan while also removing all of its bolts and breaking free the sealer bead. The cleaning process requires using a metal surface cleaner to eliminate all silicone residues from both the transaxle fluid pan and transaxle case surfaces. When installing the transaxle fluid pan seal the transaxle with a bead of sealer stretched to 1.5 mm before tightening it to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs). The splashed shield goes back into position and you need to put new automatic transmission fluid into the transaxle.
