How to Address Issues with the Throttle Cable on a Mercury Cougar?

The first step is disconnecting the accelerator cable retaining clip then removing the part from the bracket and fully extracting it. The repair of the accelerator cable requires unhooking it from both the throttle body and pedal followed by freeing the cable housing from the bulkhead until you can take out the complete assembly. A draw cord should be attached to the accelerator cable during engine work to make installation easier. To reinstall the components follow all steps in the reverse order of removal.
