How to service and repair the hood latch on Mercury Grand Marquis?

The hood service requires first removing the radiator view shield together with 6 pin-type retainer units. Before you remove the 2 hood latch bolts you should note down the position of the hood latch. The bolts require tightening to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) after their removal. Detach the cable while taking out the hood latch. After reversing the removal process check the hood latch adjustment because this will help the hood striker properly engage the hood latch.
