How to Service and Repair the Mass Air Flow Sensor on Mercury Grand Marquis?

The service and repair of the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor requires the disconnecting of the battery ground cable and then the removal of its electrical connector followed by the air cleaner outlet tube. First disconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector followed by the air cleaner outlet tube removal. The four securing bolts need removal from the MAF sensor. Touching the MAF sensing elements in the airflow bypass entity should be avoided because it can result in faulty unit operations. The MAF sensor module functions together with its body so technicians must replace both components as one unit. Reinstall the components by performing the reverse steps of removal.
