  The first step when servicing the vacuum brake booster requires disconnection of the battery ground cable because the cable stays closed when the engine is off thus capturing engine vacuum to maintain several assisted brake applications. The next step requires removing the fluid level sensor connector while setting aside the speed control cable. The Brake Master Cylinder needs its master nuts withdrawn along with disabling the check valve from the power brake booster while safely placing all parts away. Move the brake master cylinder with caution and set it beside the work area. Proceed by removing the instrument close-out panel by first removing the pushpins and then the stoplight switch retaining pin. Unfasten the stoplight switch and push rod from the brake pedal pin before removing the power brake booster retaining nuts and extracting the unit.
