Service of the fuel rail must begin with safety precautions that prevent open flames or smoking near fuel components because extremely combustible mixture exists in these areas. Before working on the fuel system always lower pressure to stop fuel spraying and clean all fuel residues from the engine compartment until the car is running. All maintenance of the evaporative emission system and fuel components must start by first disconnecting the battery ground cable. Initiate the replacement by releasing fuel system pressure before discluding the battery ground cable from the system. The process starts by unfastening two nuts as well as the bolt and generator air inlet duct. The first task includes disconnecting the fuel tube-to-fuel rail quick connect coupling and removing the fuel rail insulator by detaching both wiring retainers. You need to disconnect all swirl control valve electric wires as well as all four
Fuel Injector electric wires. Disconnect the fuel rail assembly by removing its two bolts. Take away the four fuel injector retainer clips together with the fuel injectors as well as the eight fuel injector O-ring seals. The installation requires new O-ring seals made of fuel-resistant material which should always be replaced instead of using reused old seals. Clean engine oil should be used for lubricating new O-ring seals before the fuel rail clips go back into position while the fuel injectors and their retainer clips get mounted onto the fuel rail. Fasten the fuel rail along with its injectors as a single unit by securing two fuel rail fasteners to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Install the four fuel injector electrical connectors together with the two swirl control valve electrical connectors. Note these installation procedures: Install the fuel rail insulator and attach the wiring harness retainers after which you should put on the fuel tube-to-fuel rail quick connect coupling. The generator air inlet duct can be installed and secured using the two nuts and bolt with a torque setting of 6 Nm (53 lb-in) and by reconnecting the battery ground cable.
