  A: Service the fuel tank filler pipe while maintaining safety by staying away from smoking zones and open flames as well as personal electronic devices since fuel-related components contain dangerous flammable material. The starting point should be to disconnect the battery ground wire. The fuel tank should be drained to reach a level below half capacity when it contains more than half its maximum amount. The EVAP canister removal should be followed by removal of the two upper retaining screws on the fuel tank filler pipe. Install these screws at 3 Nm (27 lb-in). After taking off the lower retaining bolt of the fuel tank filler pipe it needs to be installed with 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque. First disconnect the quick connect coupling between the right-hand rear inner fender splash shield and the fuel tank filler pipe vapor tube and its counterpart on the fuel vapor control tube assembly valve. The technician should release the clamp and disconnect the fuel tank filler hose from the fuel tank before taking out the fuel tank filler pipe from the vehicle. An inverse sequence of the removal steps should be followed for reinstalling back the components.
