How to Service the Fog Light Bulb on Mercury Monterey?

The fog lamp bulb servicing process starts by turning off both the headlamp switch and ignition switch. Put NEUTRAL gear on the vehicle first then place it on a hoist where you will remove eight fender splash shield screws and six pin-type retainers enabling removal of the fender splash shield. It is essential to disconnect the electrical connector while removing the fog lamp bulb since the bulb contains pressurized gas in the halogen envelope which can shatter if the glass envelope receives damage during handle or drop. The procedure for new bulb installation requires reversing the removal procedure but only removing the bulb at the very end of installation to protect headlamp performance from contamination. Maintain the fog lamp off when operating without its bulb in place.
