How to service the steering column cover on Mercury Monterey?

Service of the steering column cover starts with removing the three bolts from the instrument panel steering column opening cover while setting bolt torque to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) for installation. Seize the instrument panel steering column opening cover then unscrew its securing bolts before moving on to the two bolts that secure the instrument panel steering column reinforcement. During reinstallation tighten both bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). You should install the reinforcement back into place by undoing the removal steps you performed before.
