How to service and repair the EGR valve on Mercury Mystique?

Before servicing the EGR valve operators must detach the idle air control valve. The service begins with tube removal from the exhaust gas recirculation valve followed by complete uninstallation of the exhaust gas recirculation valve while properly disconnecting the vacuum hose. When installing the valve follow a two-step procedure by cleaning both the intake manifold and exhaust gas recirculation valve surfaces but avoid letting any material enter the parts. Set the EGR valve in place then bolt it before installing a new exhaust gas recirculation valve gasket. Finish the installation by reconnecting the EGR tube followed by the vacuum hose before placing back the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve.
