The battery service requires disconnection as a first step for alternator repair. You must detach the air cleaner outlet tube. Start by turning the accessory drive belt tensioner to the counterclockwise direction along with moving the accessory drive belt to a safe location. Users should detach generator electrical connectors before they move the B+ protective cover to access and remove B+ nut and terminal. Start by eliminating the wiring harness-to-generator locator after which you must uninstall the generator through bolt removal of the stud bolts and nut and removal of the shield. The installation process ends by performing an inverse order of removal steps.

Service and repair of the alternator requires starting with battery disconnection. The FEAD belt tensioner must rotate counterclockwise before placing the front end accessory drive belt to the side. Separate the protective cover from the unit then eliminate the generator B+ terminal nut while discarding it as you must tighten the new nut to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during assembly. The radial adapter reinstall requires removal of its cap and nut whereas the adapter should be set aside before re-torquing it to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). The last step includes installing a new generator B+ terminal nut while performing the removal procedure in reverse order.
