The battery ground cable disconnecting marks the first step for serving or repairing the lower control arm in all vehicles. Prevent the piston rod from rotating by using an Allen key when you loosen the mount nut on top by five revolutions. Start by removing the wheel nuts then raising the vehicle before supporting it to remove the wheel. The service and repair process of lower control arm requires splash shield removal from 2.0L engine models and splash shield removal from 2.5L engine versions. Frequently test the lower arm to wheel knuckle pinch bolt and nut while applying care to shield the ball joint seal before removing the lower arm ball joint from its position on the wheel knuckle. To proceed with the removal you should lift the wheel knuckle on the strut while removing the pinch bolt until you can take out the lower arm by removing its retaining nuts and bolts. Before bolt installation, position the lower arm where the bottom-facing bolt heads need to be placed. Then install the retaining nuts and bolts. The wheel knuckle needs to be positioned properly for installing the strut's pinch bolt then adding the lower arm to wheel knuckle pinch bolt and its attached nut. When reinstalling the maintenance shield we must use the splash shields for vehicles with 2.5L engine yet the splash shield specifically for 2.0L engine types. Complete the installation by adding the wheel then apply an Allen key to stop piston rod spin when tightening the top mount nut and reinstall the battery ground cable before inspecting front wheel alignment.

Remove the wheel and detach the stabilizer bar connecting link and bushing from the front lower arm.

Check the toe setting and make adjustments if necessary.

Take out the nut and bolt.
