The servicing process for the timing cover must begin by placing protective materials in front of the charge air cooler for protection during the work. Start by removing the air cleaner outlet pipe together with the crankshaft front seal. Start by detaching the retaining nut of the power steering hose and tube followed by raising the supply tube to access the engine coolant temperature sensor connector before moving the power steering pump and supply tube to a clear area. The power steering pump needs its bolts removed before disconnecting the vertical EGR cooler coolant hose which requires disposal of the clamp. Unfasten the retaining nuts of the vertical EGR cooler, then detach the bolt with coolant tube and disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation temperature sensor connector with its related hose and clips. The first step requires removal of the retaining nut and clip then the nut and bolt from the vertical EGR cooler before finishing by removing the vertical EGR cooler stud along with discarding the gasket. Workers need to detach the bolts to obtain the vertical EGR cooler assembly and its gasket. Use a hose clamp remover to detach upper and lower radiator hoses while untightening the bulbs securing them until the heater return tube becomes accessible whereas the O-ring needs disposal. The EGR cooler coolant supply tube needs detachment from the front cover while you discard both the O-ring seal and the clamp. First remove the tensioner for the accessory drive belt together with the A/C belt tensioner when equipped and the accessory drive belt idler pulley. The ECT sensor electrical connector and wire retainer should be unwired before executing bolt and nut removal on the engine wiring harness and heater supply tube while avoiding heater supply tube deformities. The front cover replacement process requires removal of thermostat housing along with coolant pump pulley and coolant pump while discarding the O-ring seal. Locate the short bolts on the oil pump housing before removing the 11 bolts with the oil pump housing and disposing of the press-in-place gasket. Indicate the correct orientation of each drive rotor facing on the front and proceed to remove the inner and outer oil pump drive rotors. Before unbolted the engine front cover make a detailed record of bolt positions then carefully cut the sealant connecting upper and lower crankcase parts to prevent lowering the crankcase seal from its location. Take out the bolt along with the EGR coolant adapter but discard the O-ring seal. Begin the install procedure by putting on the EGR coolant adapter followed by its bolt while ensuring a final torque setting of 13 Nm (115 lb-inch). Place a dime-size amount of sealant on the front seam between the upper and lower crankcase areas and position it with guide pins while installing the front cover gasket. Place the engine front cover into position prior to attaching its bolts loosely. The installation process requires marking the oil pump drive rotors facing outward while applying oil and using new press-in-place gasket to build the oil pump housing with torque-valued bolt tightening. The engine front cover bolts need to tighten to 31 Nm (23 lb-ft) but if the coolant pump and pulley were removed then installation with 31 Nm (23 lb-ft) torque will be needed. The thermostat housing now requires a new press-in-place gasket for installation before torquing bolts to 13 Nm (115 lb-inch) while positioning the heater supply tube without bending it. Attach the ECT sensor electrical connector followed by installing the idler pulley, A/C belt tensioner if present and tensioner and secure all these components to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft). First replace the seals on the EGR cooler coolant supply tube and heater return tube before installing them and tightening to 13 Nm (115 lb-inch). Use new gaskets to secure the vertical EGR cooler assembly before tightening all components at their specified torque values. Follow up by connecting the new clamp onto the vertical EGR cooler coolant hose and tightening it to 4 Nm (35 lb-inch). Then proceed to tighten the EGR cooler bolts to their specified torque, put back the power steering pump and crankshaft front seal while completing the installation with the air cleaner outlet pipe.

Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector after positioning the power steering pump and installing the three bolts.
