Front Crossmember

Service and repairs of the front crossmember must start with the removal of the upper radiator sight shield then supporting the radiator to the upper radiator support. Integrate the three-bar engine support to the system before you detach each front wheel with its accompanying tire. The procedure begins with discarding eight bolts after separation from two front I-braces. First detach the two clips then position the front anti-lock brake sensors aside before removing the four bolts that will support the front brake calipers in their position. Workers must handle the external hex of tie rods by holding them before getting rid of the two nuts and splitting tie rod ends from front spindles. When removing and disposing of the two stabilizer bar link nuts you must apply equal torque to their external hex assemblies. When handling the upper ball joint do the same procedure by removing and discarding the nuts which detach it from the spindle. Before taking out the bolt users should first loosen the A/C and power steering line bracket nut two turns so they can access the front of the radiator support crossmember. Users then should remove the underbody splash shields and the bolt while positioning the water control valve aside for 3.9L models. First, remove the block heater harness retainer before extracting the bolts which enable you to position the power steering gear aside. Toss out the discarded nuts. Secure the lift table to front crossmembers before you untighten the engine mount nuts along with lower front strut mount bolts to minimize personal injury risks. Mark the crossmembers on the body and position the lifting table below them before unbolt the four engine and radiator crossmember bolts to lower the assembly safely. First discard both control arm nuts and bolts before proceeding with their removal. During radiator support crossmember removal it is essential to remove the bolts then detach the water control valve bracket and discard the bolts while placing the stabilizer bar to the side. A normal amount of clearance at 1.5 mm (0.059 in) should exist between the front I-brace shoulder bolt during installation. First install new bolts onto the stabilizer bar before fitting the water control valve bracket and its corresponding bolts. Install the new control arm cam bolts and nuts while keeping them loose and construct the radiator support and engine crossmembers in their assembly position before securing all bolts while verifying that the engine mass does not touch the crossmember and the assembly touches the vehicle body. The procedure starts with implementing the four engine crossmember bolts and four radiator support crossmember bolts before installing the engine mount nuts and new lower front strut mount bolts. When installing new nuts keep a firm hold on the external hex parts of ball joints as this will secure upper ball joints into their positions in spindles while following the same procedure for securing stabilizer bar links into lower control arm openings. Before tightening the bolts on the power steering gear users should reach inside the external hex part of the tie rods to support them while installing new nuts that fasten tie rod ends to spindles. Place the calipers on both front wheels before installing their attaching bolts. After that attach front anti-lock brake sensors with clips for vehicles using the 3.9L engine. Follow with the installation of block heater harness before placing the water control valve and tightening the securing nut. Afterward, fit the A/C and power steering brackets and secure them with bolts. Secure the prepared I-braces and let the front bolts remain loose to achieve correct insulator position before tightening all hardware. Last steps include placing underbody splash shields on and installing front wheel assembly with tires followed by removing engine support bars to detach support from radiator before reattaching the upper radiator shield.

Remove the eight bolts and two front I-braces, discarding the bolts.

Install the three-bar engine support.
