The process of fixing the front driveshaft begins by turning off air suspension power through the rear jack storage area switch to prevent inflating or deflating air springs. Rise and support the vehicle before performing index-marking of the front axle pinion flange with the front driveshaft and the transfer case pinion flange with the front driveshaft. Start by removing the transfer case skid plate followed by disconnecting its CV joint-to-transfer case bolts and washers then the front driveshaft-to-front axle bolts. Revocation of the front driveshaft transfer case connection needs to be completed before starting physical separation. New front driveshaft CV joint-to-transfer case bolts and washers together with front driveshaft-to-front axle bolts and straps must be installed during assembly. The threads of unavailable replacement bolts should get coated with Threadlock and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA or its equivalent which satisfies Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A5. Installation of the front driveshaft should begin with the front axle and proceed with opposite steps for removal.

A safe method to start rear driveshaft removal on 4X2 vehicles involves disabling air suspension electrical power through the switch inside the rear jack storage area which will block sudden air spring inflation or deflation. The vehicle must be set to neutral before securely raising and supporting it. Index-mark the driveshaft to the driveshaft rear axle pinion flange and also index-mark the driveshaft slip yoke to the transmission output shaft. Disconnect the four bolts from the driveshaft and lower the transmission component while pushing it back before plugging the extension housing to stop oil leakage. You need to replace the existing rear driveshaft-to-driveshaft rear axle pinion flange bolts with new ones but old bolts can be preserved by coating their threads with Threadlock and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA or an equivalent substance that meets Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A5. Perform the installation by reversing the steps from removal.

Before servicing a rear driveshaft always position the vehicle in neutral gear then raise it with secure support. Index-mark the driveshaft flange and the rear axle pinion flange for proper alignment during reinstallation. Put the driveshaft into removal mode by deleting the four bolts which maintain drive flange and pinion attachment to the axle followed by lowering the shaft when ready to slide it toward the transmission output shaft. You should plug the extension housing to stop fluid leakage. Reinstallation of the driveshaft requires new bolts as the alternative is to apply Threadlock and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA or an equivalent with WSK-M2G351-A5 Ford specification to the original bolt threads when new bolts are not available. Reverse the steps of removal to install the complete transmission unit.

With the vehicle in neutral, raise and support it securely.

Disconnect the rear driveshaft and rotate the rear axle flange before reconnecting the driveshaft.

Coat the threads of the original bolts with Threadlock and Sealer EOAZ-19554-AA or an equivalent that meets Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A5.

Index-mark the driveshaft flange to the rear axle pinion flange.

Index-mark both the driveshaft flange and the rear axle pinion flange, as well as the driveshaft and extension housing.

Use new bolts tightened to 112 Nm (83 lb-ft).

Index-mark the driveshaft flange to the rear axle pinion flange.

Remove the four bolts securing the driveshaft.

Index the transfer case pinion flange to the front driveshaft.

Remove and discard the four rear axle flange bolts.
