Exhaust Manifold, Driver Side

Begin service of the left-hand exhaust manifold by raising a vehicle to a hoist using neutral gear. Start by taking off first the dual converter Y-pipe then remove the oil level indicator tube bolt. To start the process disconnect the EGR tube through the removal of its nut before breaking its connection to the exhaust manifold. After removing the six exhaust manifold nuts it is possible to detach the left-hand exhaust manifold which requires discarding the existing gasket. Place the new left-hand exhaust manifold gasket then mount the manifold while installing the six nuts with torque to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) according to sequence. You should attach the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold after tightening it to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) then bolt the oil level indicator tube before tightening it to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Minor procedures must include reinstallation of the dual converter Y-pipe.

Reconnect the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold and tighten it to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

Disconnect the spark plug wires.

Position the vehicle on a hoist with it in neutral.

Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

Remove the exhaust manifold by taking off the bolts and discarding the gasket.

Reverse the removal procedure, ensuring to tighten the nuts in the specified sequence.

The oil level indicator tube.

Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.

Remove the three heat shield nuts and the right-hand heat shield.

Take out the bolts securing the cowl top panel, followed by the three heat shield nuts and the right-hand heat shield.

Position a new exhaust manifold gasket and install the exhaust manifold.

Position the vehicle on a hoist with it in neutral.
