    Q:
How to Service the Tail Pipe and Muffler on Lincoln MKS? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start the muffler and tailpipe service procedure by hoisting the vehicle in NEUTRAL position. The Torca® clamp nut should be loosened starting from the muffler and tailpipe while keeping them stable with a suitable jackstand before torquing the clamp to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft) during reinstalling. Try not to injure the isolators when taking them off so use soapy water to create space between the four isolators before carefully taking the muffler and tailpipe assembly out. Your installation of mechanic's wire throughout the intermediate pipe will protect the flexible pipe from any potential damage. The installation process requires reversal of removal steps while checking all isolators for damage or tears to replace any faulty units. Please start the engine afterwards to inspect exhaust leak potential.

    Q:
How to Service the Exhaust Pipe on Lincoln MKS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The service process for the exhaust intermediate pipe begins only after the vehicle is placed on a hoist in NEUTRAL gear. The service requires removal of the two exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts and their accompanying gasket that needs disposal. The installation requires tightening the flange nuts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). The Torca(R) clamp nut should be loosened before installation where final tightening needs to reach 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). Detach the exhaust intermediate pipe from the muffler and tailpipe to take out the exhaust intermediate pipe. Follow the removal instructions in reverse order when installing the components although new gaskets together with exhaust fasteners must be used during the entire process. After starting the engine test for exhaust leakage.
