There is no need to perform engine balancing on a new flywheel so do not place balance weights on the part. Install the specified bolts instead of regular bolts during installation procedures. Test the manual transmission pilot bearing before replacing it with a new one. Begin by installing the flywheel or flexplate before tightening its bolts in three defined stages up to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) followed by 80 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) and concluding at 112 Nm (83 ft. lbs.). The first step should be clutch installation followed by transmission reinstallation.

The first step in flexplate removal should begin with the transmission extraction from the vehicle. The second step in this process requires removing eight flexplate retaining bolts which should be discarded. The installation procedure requires fresh flexplate bolts since they represent a torque-to-yield design feature which becomes unusable after initial use. You should fit the flexplate afterward using 8 new bolts in three leveling stages where you first set them to 13 Nm (115 lb-in) before moving to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) then complete the mounting by torquing an additional 90 degrees. Install the transmission after you have secured the flexplate to its proper position.

First, tighten the bolts to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.), and then to 71 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).

First, remove the transmission.

Next, take out the bolts securing the flywheel or flexplate.

Reinstall the clutch if equipped, followed by the transmission/transaxle.

Remove the flywheel bolts.

Utilize the Flywheel Locking Tool to remove the 6 bolts securing the flywheel.

80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
