The automatic transmission shifter service requires disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by vehicle lift. Start by removing the heat shield and disconnect the selector lever assembly through a process that includes removing the selector cable adjusting cap as well as the selector cable and subsequent nuts removal. The first step requires lowering the vehicle then removing both the front ash receptacle and lighter element and taking out the lighter trim when present. Move onto the next stage through removal of the selector lever assembly by first removing the cover then lifting out the assembly and finally disconnecting the selector lever electrical connector. The installation process starts with placing the selector lever assembly followed by connecting its electrical connector and positioning the lever until you install the cover. The installation sequence requires reinstallation of front ash receptacle and lighter element alongside the lighter trim. When installing the selector lever assembly raise the vehicle again while attaching the nuts without tightening or locking the selector cable adjusting cap followed by selector cable connection. After proper vehicle lowering continue adjusting both components through the selector cable and its lever. Battery replacement introduces abnormal drive symptoms that will occur during relearning of the adaptive strategy for the vehicle after connecting the battery. Complete the process by reconnecting the ground cable of the battery.

The A/T shifter requires service and repair work that can begin through employment of a vise equipped with jaw protectors. Begin disconnecting the connector through the retaining tab removal before pulling out the cables while simultaneously extracting the cable retainer. Signal the beginning of repairwork by disconnecting the cables before fully pulling them out. Install a pull-through wire for assembly after first pulling off the selector lever knob by unscrewing its bolt. Begin by unwiring the O/D switch followed by disconnecting its wiring before lifting off the cover after removing the lamp and shifting the shifter cover up. First eliminate the park position switch alongside the selector lever detent spring then remove the solenoid switch and upper body part. Drilling out the pivot pin enables the selection of the lever for removal. Drive out the retaining pin before securing the spring and pulling out both the plunger and spring. After that pull off the sleeve. The assembly process begins with placing the spring followed by inserting the plunger and sliding on the sleeve under spring compression. A screwdriver should be used to pretension the spring by drawing the plunger back slightly. Insert the sleeve into the retaining pin until its center point. Situating the selector lever inside the transaxle allows the locating tooth to lock in place followed by driving in the pivot pin. Begin by positioning the solenoid switch together with the upper part of the body followed by bolting the upper body components then attaching the plunger from the solenoid switch to its lever before installing the solenoid switch screws. Start by setting the selector lever to position "D" then loosely place the detent spring before inserting a feeler gauge and finally tightening the spring while monitoring the gap after multiple selector lever moves. The park position switch installation requires the lamp insertion followed by placing the cover on top. Assemble the selector lever knob through the installed disassembly cable which guides the O/D switch into place without hurting the O/D cable before screw installation. The electrical connector requires connection according to this sequence: Violet White, Black White, Yellow/Orange, Yellow/Orange, Orange/Black, Black, Black/Green, and Black/Green. After that, install the cable retainer and the connector.
