Service technicians should begin front wheel bearing maintenance by raising the vehicle and supporting its height before removing the tire-wheel assembly. The use of heat must be avoided for freeing up wheel nuts because it can harm both wheel bearings and wheels. You need to uninstall the front disc brake caliper while discarding the anchor plate and after that remove the hub grease cap with the cotter pin and retainer nut. To begin the procedure disconnect the spindle nut and remove following it the front wheel outer bearing retainer washer and the outer front wheel bearing. Start by removing the brake disc together with the hub followed by the inner front wheel bearing where you should discard the wheel hub grease seal. A drift tool helps extraction of bearing cups but compressed air should not be used to dry off bearings. You should wipe the bearings with solvent then check for replacement needs based on their condition. Remove all old lubricant from the hub and spindle along with bearing cups and inspect the components for any damage before replacing defective parts. Use an appropriate bearing cup installer to fit both outer and inner wheel bearing cups afterward apply Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or -K or any equivalent substance that meets Ford specification ESA-MIC75-B until the grease reaches the inside diameter level of the bearing cups. Install the bearing cone and roller into the inner front wheel bearing after packing them in wheel bearing grease with a bearing packer. Also install a new wheel hub grease seal at this time. Smooth out a minimal amount of the same grease on the front wheel spindle. Mount the brake disc and hub onto the spindle by positioning the brake disc at its center to protect the grease seal from damage. After applying the front wheel bearing outer component and retaining washer place the spindle nut. While performing front wheel bearing end play adjustment, use the brake disc to rotate the spindle before tightening it before loosening it two turns. The spindle nut requires another round of tightening after which operators should rotate the brake disc in the counterclockwise direction followed by re-tightening and loosening the spindle nut. The installation ends with the retainer nut besides the new cotter pin and hub grease cap followed by the front disc brake caliper anchor plate. First activate air suspension through the switch before you reattach the tire and wheel assembly when air suspension is active.

Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and detach the retainer.

Remove the bolt and detach the retainers, followed by removing the bolts, wheel bearing, and wheel speed sensor as an assembly, routing the sensor wiring through the access hole in the brake shield and discarding the bolts.

To prevent unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which could cause vehicle shifting and personal injury.

Remove the bolts securing the wheel bearing and hub assembly.

Reverse the removal procedure.

First, raise and support the vehicle, then remove the tire and wheel assembly.
