    Q:
How to remove and replace the Engine Mount insulators on Ford F-350 Super Duty? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the insulator replacement process on the engine support by hoisting the vehicle with NEUTRAL engaged and discharging the battery ground cable. First disconnect the Air Cleaner outlet pipe, Throttle Body spacer and generator along with the engine cooling fan. Proceed by attaching Engine Support Bar while installing Support Hook and Engine Support Bracket thereafter unfasten Y-pipe exhaust flange nuts and keep 2 transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts for replacement. To proceed remove the A/C compressor alongside the starter followed by discarding the RH engine support insulator through bolt. Start by loosening the tunnel side engine support insulator through bolt and following with the 3 lateral engine support insulator nuts. Then discard the 4 right-hand engine support insulator nuts. The technician must begin by removing the oil cooler then proceed to loosen the RH engine support insulator through bolt and discard the LH engine support insulator through bolt after which the 4 RH engine support insulator nuts must be loosened before discarding all 4 nuts. Raise the engine using the Engine Support Bar and Support Hook and Engine Support Bracket after removing the 3 LH engine support insulator nuts. Replace all engine support insulator bracket bolts because the components have been designed for tightening until they reach yield specifications and install new hardware. You need to discard all 3 bolts together with the bracket if you work on repairing the RH engine support insulator bracket. You should apply the same sequence to install the LH engine support insulator. The installation requires clean engine support insulator-to-cylinder block and engine support insulator-to-frame contact surfaces. Place new engine support insulator bolts on the LH bracket at a first torque of 30 Nm (22 lb-ft) followed by an extra 60-degree tightening. Install the LH engine support insulator inside the vehicle through the same procedure followed by positioning the RH engine support insulator. Lower the engine and use 3 new LH engine support insulator nuts to tighten each one to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). The installation ends with tightening 4 new RH engine support insulator nuts to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft). The new LH engine support insulator through bolt requires a torque setting of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) followed by a complete replication of the same procedure on the RH engine support insulator through bolt. Before installing the oil cooler replace all 4 RH engine support insulator nuts with 3 new ones which require a torque specification of 115 Nm (85 lb-ft) and all 3 LH engine support insulator nuts must be torque to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). Reinstall the starter first along with the A/C compressor together with the rest of the components particularly the 2 new transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts tightened at 115 Nm (85 lb-ft) and the 4 exhaust Y-pipe flange nuts tightened at 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) and the engine cooling fan and generator and TB spacer and ACL outlet pipe and battery ground cable reconnection.
