Condenser Assembly

Lubrication of R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals requires exclusive use of Refrigerant Compressor Oil (Mineral Oil) F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A). However, never add this oil to the R-134a refrigerant system as an A/C compressor lubricant since PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent oil from WSH-M1C231-B Ford specification serves as the proper A/C compressor lubricant. The replacement of a new suction accumulator remains unnecessary when a failed A/C compressor or damaged suction accumulator do not cause system contamination. Before taking out the A/C condenser core test for leaks to verify any potential system breach. The refrigerant recovery needs to be performed first followed by air deflector and jack handle removal along with the air deflector screws. Begin by unbolting the radiator brackets after which you disconnect the A/C lines from the condenser core and unfasten the condenser bracket bolts until the condenser core becomes removable. The installation involves following the removal steps in reverse order while installing fresh O-rings that received oil lubrication from clean mineral oil sources followed by correct clean mineral oil lubrication of the refrigerant system.

The first step for servicing the condenser core of the HVAC system involves recovering all refrigerant. The upper radiator sight shield needs removal with the condenser fittings for detachment followed by O-ring seal disposal. Follow up the reinstallation by tightening the fittings to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Take the two bolts off the transmission oil cooler after positioning the component aside by following bolt torque specifications of 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). First remove the three bolts from the hood latch bracket and set it aside before reinstallation while tightening to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Replace the two condenser bracket bolts while securing them at 18 Nm (13 lb-ft) torque. The installation requires new O-ring seals together with proper implementation of clean PAG oil to lubricate the refrigerant system. Reverse the removal process to reinstall the condenser core. Evacuation should follow leak testing and charging the refrigeration system.

Ensure the fittings are tightened to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19D589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C), which meets Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.

Remove the two condenser bracket bolts.

Reverse the removal procedure for installation, using new O-ring seals and lubricating the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.
