You should remove the brake drum as the initial step for servicing or repairing brake shoes. The inspection of the rear wheel cylinder should include checks for leakage together with inspections of rear brake shoes for contamination and heat discoloration on springs. Replacements should occur when necessary. You should replace the shoes and linings if their minimum thickness falls below the backing plate or rivets. You must first remove the brake shoe adjusting screw spring after which you can take out the brake adjuster lever and the brake adjuster screw. Start by removing successively the brake shoe hold-down spring followed by the brake shoe combination with its retracting spring and finally the rear brake shoe hold-down spring. The removal process starts by discarding the parking brake lever clip while separating rear brake shoes and linings from the parking brake lever. You should follow the opposite steps of removal to finish the installation.

A technician needs to start front disc brake pad servicing by removing the wheel assembly and tire before targeting the front disc brake caliper bolts. Starting with mechanics wire support for the front disc brake caliper from the front strut and spring assembly proceed to remove the front disc brake pads by beginning with the outboard pad and then following with the inboard pad. Insulate the new pad installation by checking that the master cylinder reservoir stays below its fill point and avoids brake fluid contamination when fully retracting the front disc brake caliper piston in the bore. The braking process for front disc pads requires installation of the inboard pad before applying the outboard pad. Place the front disc brake caliper on the front-wheel knuckle while fastening it to the brake caliper pin bolts. The brake pedal should be pressed multiple times before driving the vehicle to correctly set the front disc brake caliper piston in position. After completion install the wheel together with the tire.

The brake shoe service and repair requires initial brake drum removal prior to removing upper and lower retracting springs then self-adjuster and hold-down springs. After removing the brake lever clip you should take out the parking brake lever. The installation steps should be performed in the opposite order of removal.

Do not allow the caliper to hang from the brake hose; provide suitable support instead.

Avoid prying in the caliper sight hole to retract the pistons, as this can damage them; instead, support the disc brake caliper when removing it.

Remove the brake shoe adjusting screw spring, followed by the brake adjuster lever and the brake adjuster screw.

Install the new stainless steel slippers with the taps pointing away from the brake disc.

Take out the rear brake shoe hold-down spring and the rear brake shoes and linings.

Carefully install the disc brake caliper, tightening the top bolt first.

Support the caliper from the front strut and spring assembly using mechanics wire.
