Servicing and repairing of the floor shifter requires starting with safety precautions by depleting back up power to stop air bag deployment then disconnecting the battery ground cable for one minute and removing auxiliary supplies from the vehicle if present. The first step requires removal of the instrument panel finish panel followed by disconnecting its electrical connector. Identify the console finish panel before removing it then lower the shifting bezel to disconnect the TCS harness. To obtain access to the shift handle remove the two retaining screws followed by removing the handle. The indicator bezel should be lifted to take out the bulb while releasing the interlock cable housing clip to disconnect the interlock cable. Cut the shift cable connection from the shifter assembly at its point before disconnecting the housing clip using for the shift cable. The electrical connector can be separated after releasing the push pin retainer. The procedure calls for removing the vacuum harness connection from the parking brake release component. After removing the four floor-mount retaining nuts the shifter mechanism can be completely removed from the floor. The installation process requires following the opposite steps of removal.

Before working on the floor shifter automatic transmission shift levers, it is important to remove the power back up to avoid accidental air bag deployment, so disconnect the battery cable along with removing all auxiliary power supplies as needed. The service and repair process starts with instrument panel finish panel removal while disconnecting the electrical connector. Proceed by raising the console finish panel for removal and push the shift handle bezel down to detach the TCS harness. First, remove two retaining screws from the shift handle followed by taking out the shift handle itself. Separate the indicator bezel from the bulb by raising it before releasing the interlock cable housing clip so you can disconnect the interlock cable. First, detach the shift cable from the shifter assembly before eliminating the shift cable housing clip. Free the electrical connector push pin retainer and remove its electrical connector from its position. Pick up the vacuum harness to dissociate it from the parking brake release mechanism. The shifter mechanism can be taken out from the floor once all four retaining nuts are removed. The installation process for the new shifter requires performing the removal steps in reverse order.

Take out the screw, move the parking brake release handle aside, remove the screw from the panel, and pull outward to release the retaining clips.

Remove the five screws securing the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement and the four screws from the instrument panel reinforcement brace.
