The beginning of sway bar link maintenance on F-250, F-350 and Excursion vehicles requires the vehicle to be raised properly while also provided with support. The replacement of suspension fasteners requires either identical part numbers or equivalent components because vital system performance relies on them while unnecessary use of substitute designs or lower-quality parts should be avoided. The appropriate retention depends on proper torque value compliance during the re-assembly process. The first step involves removing sway bar retainer brackets through the removal process of bolts which leads to bracket extraction. The process demands removal of the lower sway bar link nuts together with washers and bolts before extracting the sway bar from its position. The last step requires the removal of upper sway bar link nuts before unscrewing their bolts to extract the links. New fasteners in the installation process must be accompanied by the reverse order of removal.

Begin by raising and supporting the vehicle.

Reverse the removal procedure.

Remove the nuts and washers from both upper ends of the links that connect to the frame, then take out the links.

Use the same part number or an equivalent part, avoiding any lesser quality or substitute designs.

Using inferior quality or substitute designs is not acceptable.

Remove the nuts from both stabilizer bar retainer-to-axle brackets.
