Intake Manifold

Service of the intake manifold requires first placing a hoist under a neutral-positioned vehicle. Start the process by taking away the fuel rail with the throttle body before you detach the oil level indicator alongside its tube. First disconnect the intake manifold vacuum hose along with the pin-type retainer then place both components aside. The service proceeds with disconnecting the power brake booster vacuum tube by depressing its quick release locking ring followed by tube removal from the fitting. The fuel vapor return hose needs removal from the intake manifold before using a wrench to take out the three bolts securing the accelerator cable bracket while positioning it aside; these bolts should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) during reassembly. The removal process requires detaching both pin-type retainers and moving the wiring harnesses apart for the idle air control (IAC) motor and swirl control valve and knock sensor (KS) and temperature manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensor and oil pressure sender electrical connectors. For proper reinstallation please note down which bolts are of different sizes before returning them to their original positions. The crankcase vent hose clamp along with the EGR tube requires torquing to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) while you work on accessing these components after removing the eight bolts from the intake manifold. Detach the clamp from the crankcase vent hose before taking off the EGR tube. The correct torque on both components is 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling the tube. The final step includes removal of the intake manifold followed by its gaskets so reinstall the parts in reverse order with a new intake manifold gaskets when needed.

The first step for servicing the intake manifold requires placing the vehicle in neutral gear position on a hoist. Initiate the procedure by taking off the fuel rail and throttle body units before disconnecting the oil level indicator together with its attached tube. The power brake booster vacuum tube needs to be removed by pressing the locking ring to unlock it and pulling out the tube from the fitting. The service on the intake manifold begins by disconnecting the fuel vapor return hose from the intake manifold then removing the three bolts which allow positioning of the accelerator cable bracket before securing it with a force of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The service process requires disconnecting the idle air control (IAC) motor alongside the swirl control valve and both the knock sensor (KS) and temperature manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensor as well as the engine oil pressure (EOP) switch electrical connectors while removing any pin-type retainers. Record the locations of various bolts because they have distinct dimensions for proper later installation. Access to disconnect both the crankcase vent hose clamp and EGR tube is possible once the intake manifold is secured to its mounting position by removing the eight bolts. When reinstalling the EGR tube you need to fasten it to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). End the process by taking out the intake manifold and gaskets and follow the reverse order during reinstallation while checking for new intake manifold gaskets before tightening the intake manifold bolts to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).

Remove the throttle body.

Disconnect the six fuel injector electrical connectors.
