Intake Manifold, Lower

Both valve covers and upper intake manifold must be removed first before working on the lower intake manifold. Disconnection of fuel supply line should be the initial step. You should first disconnect the fuel pulse damper as well as its electrical connector and vacuum tube. Extract the fuel injection supply manifold with fuel injectors by unfastening the four bolts after disconnecting the wiring harness of the engine control sensor from the fuel injectors. The service process begins with heater hose removal and then disconnecting both the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor and the Coolant Temperature Sender (CTS). Finally proceed with removing the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing. Start by removing both the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor followed by the lower intake manifold through bolt removal. Remove the intake manifold gaskets as well as end seals. All sealing surfaces require cleaning before installation of the four cylinder block-to-cylinder head seams with a drop of Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or an equivalent material that meets Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A4 standards. The installation requires you to position the intake manifold and apply initial torque of 15 Nm followed by full torque of 32 Nm to the bolts while performing two stages of bolt tightening. The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor reinstall process must be followed before installing the upper radiator hose with its clamp and attaching the heater hose and ECT sensor and CTS components. A fuel injection assembly can be installed by securing the four bolts and then reconnecting the wiring harness of the engine control sensors to the fuel injectors. The complete assembly receives a fuel pulse damper and vacuum tube connection and an electrical connector. The last step involves installing both valve covers followed by the upper intake manifold and reconnection of the fuel line and engine cooling system bleeding and filling.

Fill and bleed the engine cooling system.

Reconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors, the fuel line spring lock coupling, and the fuel pressure regulator along with its electrical connector and vacuum line.

Install the upper intake manifold support bracket, reconnect the IAC and TP sensor electrical connectors, and attach the evaporative emissions return tube and vacuum hose.
