The caliper piston does not need bottoming when using original pads but applying a C-clamp along with a pad will push the piston down when installing new pads. The rubber caliper sleeve boots need a lubricant substitute for petroleum-based products; use Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (Motorcraft WA-10) or an equivalent silicone compound that meets Ford specification ESE-MIC171-A. After the disc brake caliper is installed in either the front wheel spindle (E-150) or front disc brake caliper anchor plate (E-250, E-350, E-450) install and tighten the disc brake caliper bolts. To complete the installation process both front brake hose speed sensor wiring should be reconnected before installing the tire and wheel assembly.

Install the disc brake caliper by positioning it in the front wheel spindle (E-150) or in the front disc brake caliper anchor plate (E-250, E-350, E-450), then install and tighten the disc brake caliper bolts. Installation ends by connecting the speed sensor wiring to the front brake hose before putting on the tire and wheel assembly.

Avoid the installation of oil or grease-contaminated pads.

Remove the two disc brake caliper bolts and ensure not to let the caliper hang from the brake hose; support it with wire from an underbody component.
