Oil Pan

Starting all repair work on the upper oil pan requires initial rest of the lower oil pan on every vehicle. The oil level indicator tube along with its retaining nut must be removed by those with partial body lift. Vehicles with body-on structure require the removal of the oil level indicator in addition to other components. First remove the bolt to take out the oil level indicator tube which you should set aside while discarding the O-ring seal. Start by taking out the bolt securing the fuel tube retainer and afterward remove the 9 bolts securing the upper oil pan then dispose of the press-in-place gasket before cleaning the sealing surfaces. To install place a new press-in-place gasket beneath the upper oil pan followed by tightening the 9 bolts to 13 Nm (115 lb-inch). Secure the bolt for the fuel tube retainer by tightening it to 31 Nm (23 lb-ft). Put a new O-ring seal onto the oil level tube then apply clean oil before installing both tube elements and tighten the bolt to 13 Nm (115 lb-inch). Vehicle body-on vehicles require installation of the oil level indicator yet vehicles with a partial body lift need a nut for the oil level indicator tube along with the indicator which must be tightened to 31 Nm (23 lb-ft). The installation process of the lower oil pan concludes the maintenance operation.

Disconnect the fuel tube bracket and detach the fuel supply and vapor tubes from the retainer at the rear of the engine.
