Water Pump

The first step to work on the water pump involves draining the cooling system fluid. Start by removing the fan with its clutch and then proceed with removing the accessory drive belt. Detach both the lower radiator hose from the water pump and disconnect engine harnesses that attach to the water pump stud and water bypass tube. Moving to the next task involves disconnecting the A/C support bracket by unfastening the nuts followed by bolt elimination and bolt deformation until the bracket can clear away from the work area. First detach all water pump bolts and pulley and afterwards remove the bypass tube and the screw inside. Detaching (A) bolts and (B) stud bolts on (C) water pump enables removal of the water pump from (D) front cover. Clean the gasket surfaces prior to installation by performing the reverse steps of removal.

The water pump servicing process requires cooling system drainage as the first step. Then remove the fan equipment with its attached fan clutch before detaching the accessory drive belt. The service begins with separating the lower radiator hose from the water pump before removing the engine harness from the water pump mounting stud and water bypass tube's attachment point. The A/C support bracket becomes disposable after removing its bolts and nuts and turning loose the bolt for easy bracket repositioning. First unscrew the bolts attached to the pulley of the water pump before you disconnect the pulley as well as the bolts that lead to the removal of the bypass tube. Detach the water pump by first taking out both bolts and stud bolts and then separating it from the front cover. Proper cleaning of installation surfaces must take place before mounting operation. For new water pump installation begin with the reverse of removal steps ensuring the correct sequence of tightening stud bolts and bolts and nuts.

Reattach the upper radiator hose to the water pump, followed by installing the drive belt and finally the engine cooling fan and fan shroud.

Proceed to remove the water pump bolts and take out the water pump from the cylinder block, ensuring to clean and inspect the mating surfaces.

Remove the fasteners and the coolant pump, which should be tightened to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) upon installation.

Proceed to disconnect the hoses, remove the bolts, and take out the water pump.

Remove the nuts from the A/C compressor mounting bracket support and the upper bolt, then loosen the lower bolt and position the bracket forward until it contacts the power steering pump pulley, setting the A/C compressor mounting bracket aside.

Clean and inspect the mating surfaces.

Remove the bolt and clean and inspect the O-ring seal, replacing it if necessary; lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine coolant and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) during installation.

Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket support bolts, which should be tightened to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) upon reinstallation, and then take off the nuts and the A/C compressor mounting bracket support, tightening them to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling.

Position the water pump pulley on the water pump, loosely install the bolts, and tighten them in the specified sequence.

Remove the bolts securing the water pump pulleys.
