The service process for the coolant pump requires draining engine coolant from a 4.0L SOHC engine first. The air cleaner outlet pipe should now be taken off. To start service on the coolant pump you should loosen bolts of the pulley while proceeding to remove the accessory drive belt. Remove the four coolant pump pulley bolts and the coolant pump pulley before installation while tightening them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Remove the three coolant-related hoses from the thermostat housing-to-coolant pump hose, heater hose and radiator-to-coolant pump hose then set them outside. Use new gasket material to replace the old gasket during the removal process of twelve coolant pump bolts and the coolant pump. Use a metal surface cleaner and a suitable plastic or wooden scraper to clean the sealing surfaces. Application of new gasket when installing the pump requires bolt tightening to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
